International Cyanide Management Institute Requests Comments on Proposed Revisions to Cyanide Code Program Documents and New Guidance for Production Operations

The International Cyanide Management Institute (ICMI) has completed an internal review of Cyanide Code program documents and is proposing revisions to ten of these documents based on its review. One new document, Guidance for Use of the Cyanide Production Verification Protocol has also been developed.  At this time ICMI is inviting interested stakeholders and members of the public to comment on these draft revised documents.

Cyanide Code program documents provide information, instruction, and details on Cyanide Code program requirements to participating companies and auditors.  These documents also provide guidance and instructions to participating operations in preparing for certification and to auditors assessing compliance.  Documents have been revised to account for changes in industry practices since initial development of the Cyanide Code, and to account for ICMI’s experience with Code implementation, compliance issues, and evaluating audit reports over the past 14 years.

ICMI invites  interested stakeholders to submit written comments on these documents to [email protected] by no later than November 27, 2020.  After consideration of any comments made during the comment period, ICMI will seek approval of the documents by ICMI’s Board of Directors.  If approved, documents will be finalized, translated, and posted as final on the ICMI website.
