The International Cyanide Management Institute (ICMI) announced today that the Allship Logistics Ltd (Allship) transport operation in Ghana, including Allship’s cyanide warehouse, has been recertified in full compliance with the International Cyanide Management Code (Cyanide Code). This is Allship’s fifth certification in full compliance under the Cyanide Code.
Allship Logistics was initially certified in full compliance with the Cyanide Code in March 2010 and was recertified in July 2013, in December 2016, and in May 2020. As required under the Cyanide Code, the Allship operation was again audited against ICMI’s Transportation Verification Protocol and Production Verification Protocol within three-years of its certification by an independent professional third-party auditor. ICMI has received and accepted the auditor’s Detailed Audit Findings Reports which found that the Allship operation had maintained full compliance with the Cyanide Code’s Principles, Transport Practices, and Production Practices throughout the previous three years. The Summary Audit Reports and Auditor Credentials Forms are available on Allship’s Signatory Page on the Cyanide Code web site. The operation must be re-audited every three years to evaluate continuing compliance with the Cyanide Code.
The Cyanide Code is a voluntary industry program for companies involved in the primary production of gold and/or silver using cyanide and companies producing and transporting this cyanide. It was developed under the aegis of the United Nations Environment Programme by a multi-stakeholder Steering Committee. The Cyanide Code is intended to complement an operation’s existing obligation to comply with the applicable laws and regulations of the political jurisdictions in which the operation is located.
ICMI has been established to administer the Cyanide Code, promote its adoption, evaluate its implementation, and manage the certification process. A detailed list of the operations covered by signatory companies’ applications, along with the full text of the Cyanide Code and its implementing and administrative documents, are available at www.cyanidecode.org. We invite you to read our 2022 Annual Report, which can viewed here.
