The International Cyanide Management Institute (ICMI) announced today that UNID Global Corporation’s West Africa, East Africa, and Southeast Asia Supply Chains have been recertified in full compliance with the International Cyanide Management Code (Cyanide Code). The Cyanide Code is a voluntary industry program for companies involved in the production of gold and/or silver using cyanide and companies producing and transporting this cyanide.
UNID Global Corporation’s West Africa Supply Chain and East Africa Supply Chain were initially certified in February 2019 and recertified in July 2022. UNID Global Corporation’s Southeast Asia Supply Chain was initially certified in July 2022. As required under the Cyanide Code, these operations were again audited against ICMI’s Verification Protocol within three-years of their previous certifications by an independent professional third-party auditor. ICMI has received and accepted the Summary Audit Reports and the Detailed Audit Findings Reports submitted by the auditor, who found that the operations had maintained full compliance with the Cyanide Code’s Principles and Transport Practices throughout the previous three years. The Summary Audit Reports and Auditor Credentials Forms are available on UNID Global Corporation’s Signatory Page on the Cyanide Code website. The operations must be re-audited every three years to evaluate continuing compliance with the Cyanide Code.
The Cyanide Code was developed under the aegis of the United Nations Environment Programme by a multi-stakeholder Steering Committee, and is intended to complement an operation’s existing obligation to comply with the applicable laws and regulations of the political jurisdictions in which the operation is located.
ICMI has been established to administer the Cyanide Code, promote its adoption, evaluate its implementation, and manage the certification process. A detailed list of the operations covered by signatory companies’ applications, along with the full text of the Cyanide Code and its implementing and administrative documents, are available at www.cyanidecode.org. We invite you to read our 2024 Annual Report, which can viewed here.
