The International Cyanide Management Institute (ICMI) announced today that EMED Mining Plc has voluntarily withdrawn as a signatory to the International Cyanide Management Code for the Manufacture, Transport and Use of Cyanide in the Production of Gold (Cyanide Code). The Cyanide Code is a voluntary industry program for companies involved in the production of gold using cyanide and companies manufacturing and transporting this cyanide. EMED Mining is developing the Detva-Biely Vrch project in Slovakia. Legislation enacted in September 2014 by the Slovak Parliament banned the use of cyanide heap leaching. As a consequence, the company will no longer pursue Cyanide Code certification for this project. The withdrawal is effective this date.
