The International Cyanide Management Institute (ICMI) announced today that Avocet Mining Plc has voluntarily withdrawn as a signatory to the International Cyanide Management Code for the Manufacture, Transport and Use of Cyanide in the Production of Gold (Cyanide Code). The Cyanide Code is a voluntary industry program for companies involved in the production of gold using cyanide and companies manufacturing and transporting this cyanide. Avocet Mining, which is based in the United Kingdom, became a signatory in December 2011 and had designated its Inata Gold Mine in Burkina Faso for certification. Avocet Mining’s withdrawal is effective this date.
